Learning Life Skills Through Volunteering

Working within the local communities that it serves, Wickes supports the ‘Volunteer It Yourself’ initiative supporting local projects and providing young people with valuable trade and building skills.

Wickes is a long-term supporter of the ‘Volunteer It Yourself’ scheme, supplying materials, mentors and expertise to the many renovation and decorating community projects they run throughout the country.

The scheme is aimed at young people aged 18-24 and provides them with hands on training and a credible qualification that can help secure future employment. Each activity provides a unique story and quality content for local media across broadcast, print and online, and in turn raises awareness and encourages more young people to get involved in the scheme.
