Wickes Digs Deep: Brits Go Garden Glam in the Great Garden Report

Hot off the heels of last year’s Great Bathroom Report, which grabbed national headlines in the Mail on Sunday and The Guardian, our brilliant team is back at it again; this time, venturing into the great outdoors with the launch of the Wickes Great Garden Report!

In collaboration with garden guru and TV presenter Katie Rushworth, the latest chapter in the Wickes Houseproud Series digs deep into the biggest garden trends shaping British backyards in 2025. From the tranquil charm of Cottage Garden Calm to the minimalist beauty of Japan-easy Living, the report shows how UK homeowners are transforming their outdoor spaces to reflect their personalities - whether they're green-fingered pros or just getting started.

And the data speaks volumes.

With over a third (35%) of Brits turning their garden into a wow-worthy extension of the home, the research uncovers the rise of the 'fifth room' — a place to host, unwind, and reconnect with nature. Key findings include:

-    Outdoor hosting is booming: The garden has officially become an alfresco living room
-    Sanctuary status: 1 in 6 say the garden is the most relaxing space in their home
-    Wellbeing booster: 2 in 5 believe their mental health would suffer without access to their garden
-    Big spenders: 71% are willing to splash out up to £10,000 to create their dream outdoor oasis

This is the third consecutive year we’ve teamed up with Wickes to spotlight how homeowners are reimagining their spaces - and once again, it’s proving that Brits are more houseproud (and garden-proud) than ever.

Stay tuned, this is one garden party you won’t want to miss.
